The Great Cappella Sistina

Ok, so today I woke up early (8:30) to go to the Vatican Museums because Amalia said that Wednesdays the line is the shortest, especially in the morning. Usually, it wraps all the way around the Vatican wall practically to Piazza San Pietro!! So I go out, and I'm determined and I'm limping because I somehow hurt my foot the other day, and it's raining, but I want to see i musei vaticani!! Haha, so I'm walking, walking, thinking I'm going to turn the corner at any second and see the formidable line. But nay! I got in with NO WAITING!!! YEY!! I mean there were still a TON of people, but no line!!

So I'm going through the museums and they're amazing..Egyptian mummies, stone and marble statues, ornate ceilings, and detailed, colorful paintings. It was really great. So the path was sort of planned out for you; you just kind of followed the crowd and there was only one way to go. And every time you entered a new section, there'd be a sign that said "Cappella Sistina -->", obviously in the only direction you can go. But EVERY time I'd keep seeing this sign! So EVERY room that had any sort of domed ceiling and a painting on it, I was like "Is this the Sistine Chapel?!" And I'd scour the frescoes to try to find that famous painting, each time with no luck. And each time, as I passed on to the next room, I wondered, "Did I miss it?!" Oh no. After two hours of going through the museums and being taunted by these signs, I finally came to the Sistine Chapel. And this time I knew. As I walk through the doors, the museum guards are yelling, "Put your cameras in your bags!" I was like, no..way. So I get in and it's gorgeous, and I FIND the famous painting (very small, I might add), and suddenly I hear a guard YELLING, "EH!! NO PHOTO!!" And I see this woman quickly put down her camera. And I'm like there's NOOOO freaking way I just came all this way, was tortured by Cappella Sistina signs, and paid 14 freaking euros to not even be able to take a picture of the most famous fresco in the world!! So, after a long while of silent debate in my head, I readied my camera by my side and thrust it up to take a picture. HAH!!

On the way home I bought some taralli to congratulate myself. Just kidding, I was just really craving taralli. They're just like Nonna's and remind me of home! <3

OH, and I discovered the name of my mystery palace. Vittorio Emanuele!

Oh, and I'm already planning out pages for Pilgrim Pines AS I'm taking the pictures. That's bad. HAHA.
