Ostia Antica

Today is pretty much my last free day in Rome!! Crazy, I know! Tomorrow I'm helping Amalia with last minute things at the house in Fregene and then Friday we're leaving for Fregene for 10 days..and when we come back..GERMANY!!

So I decided to go to Ostia Antica..ruins from the 2nd century!!! They're about a half an hour south of Rome, but you can use public transportation to get to them! It was so easy and really cool..except that I think today was French Tweens Go To Ostia Antica. Anyway, at one point, a hoard of them were walking by me and this one tween girl points at me and says, "You're American!!" And I just looked at her and pretended not to understand. HAHA, it was so funny. A few seconds later, I was like, AHH I should I said, "Mais non, je suis francaise!!" HAHA.

Anyway, the ruins were amazing and there were so many of them! After a couple hours there, I caught the train back and then the metro and decided to go to Cinecitta, the second to last stop on metro line A. It's supposed to be the Hollywood of Rome, where lots of movies are filmed, and I've been wanting to go for a few days (I even made up a song tote tune of "Felicita" that goes "Cinecitta!" Haha, creative, I know)..so I'm on the metro for 25 minutes, ride it allll the way to the end..finally get to Cinecitta...walk out and at the turnstyles there's a lady there, looking at me. And I'm like, "Uhhh...c'e un museo, o tour...?" And she's like "Per visitare? Non." And I was like, ok....and I turned around and got back on the metro. HAHA. After, I discovered this random, huge pyramid in the middle of Rome (maybe that's why the metro stop is called Pirimide), a castle right next to it, and the most beautiful cemetery I've ever seen, just behind it. Then, I got some lunch at the grocery store and set out on my final City Walks: Rome adventure.

I wanted to see Isola Tibera..so I took the bus (spoke French with some guy), got there, and I'm looking out over the water at the island, and I go to turn on my camera, and it won't work. GREAT!!! I don't know what to do...I can't live without my camera...So I had to cut my adventure short and go home. And who knows if I'll ever get to see what I wanted to see today, or if my camera will ever work again. =(

Kimmy, I have to say, I'm so proud of you. This blog is the coolest thing. You setting this up has allowed me to see a glimpe of Nonna Joe and Nonna Carmela's past life before the states. Seeing the homes they grew up in the land tey roamed, etc. just gave me goose bumbs and then a couple tears rolled down my face. Thank you for that and have a GREAT TIME! Love Zi Zi Taco.
