What I've Noticed...

Italians smoke. Everywhere. All the time.
Italians have never heard of ice or non-carbonated water.
Italians eat just as much as Americans.
Italians who are wealthy buy large apartments in the city. Americans who are wealthy buy large mansions with lots of land.
Italians don't speak English.
Italians watch American films and TV shows and listen to American music.
Italians drive small, standard cars. Americans drive large, automatic cars.
Italians are just as impatient as Americans.
Italians buy eggs in packs of six. Americans buy them in packs of 12 or 24.
Italians park wherever they want, go when lights are red, and drive as fast as possible, braking hard when they see a pedestrian.
Italians have to open at least two gates before getting to the door of their apartment.
Italians cross the street whenever they want, no matter how many cars are racing towards them.

The Best Parts Are...

Having an entire t-bone steak at Ricardo's, followed by fruit in a chocolate fountain
Taking the kids to the park and getting them gelato
Riding bikes down to the beach with Debo
Learning how to sail on Lago Bracciano
Going to Sepino on a whim and meeting all my long-lost family members!
Snapping a picture illegally of the famous fresco in the Sistine Chapel
Peeking through the keyhole of the fence
Reading in the peace of the Baths of Caracalla
The view of the Italian countryside from a stone wall
Eating Nutella gelato as I roam the cobblestone streets
The Trevi Fountain lit up at night
Walking up the stairs of the metro and seeing the Colosseo, right there
